Movies I want to See: Moonrise Kingdom and The Amazing Spiderman

Apologies for the lack of posting. I just came from a vacation in Florida and the Bahamas!! And you know what that means?  That means I got to visit the Wizarding World of Harry Potter and had an amazing time!!!

But since I haven’t posted in over a week, I’ve decided to do a double-whammy posting of two upcoming films I really want to see.

Moonrise Kingdom

It’s interesting how I’m writing how much I want to see this because I found out today that I won tickets to see an advance screening of this film! How exciting!!

Directed by Wes Anderson, the film stars newcomers Jared Gilman and Kara Hayward as a pair of young lovers who flee their New England town.  Ultimately,  their escape causes a local search party to fan out and find them.

Nominated for a Palme D’or at the 2012 Film Festival (it lost to Michael Haneke’s Amour), the film also features and all-star cast consisting of Bruce Willis, Edward Norton, Bill Murray, Tilda Swinton and Jason Schwartzman.

Having just seen Fantastic Mr. Fox over the weekend,  I am excited to see this. The writing, characters and art direction in that film was fabulous. I can’t wait to see what Anderson has in store for this flick.

The Amazing Spiderman

While it’s a little tiring to see Hollywood and Marvel recycle series over and over again, my opinion about this was swayed when I heard Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone were working on the project.

Directed by Marc Webb, the film once again surrounds Peter Parker as he finds a clue that might help him understand why his parents disappeared when he was a young boy. This of course, puts him in trouble with his father’s former partner (Rhys Ifans).

Here is the new Australian trailer featuring some new scenes!

      • Haha I’m sure I’ll be able to find it on (legal) DVD when it comes out. You’ll have to let me know if it’s worth it or not!
