A lil’ volunteer journalism

This is not so much an insightful piece of writing but a post to do a little shameless self-promotion.

Moping around this summer has done me no good. I’ve decided to volunteer my journalism services by doing more. Because if I ain’t getting paid, then I might as well do things that benefit me.

The first thing I’ve done since then is contribute a 20something profile to a lovely blog called Twenties Blog.

Of course, things have changed since then. I’ve stopped working with the YouTube show due to difference in opinions and now I’m contributing to smaller publications because it allows me to exercise more creativity.

That being said, I recently made this photo/video documentary channeling a group of taiko drummers based in Toronto. For the limited amount of pictures and video I managed to get, I’m particularly proud of the work I did.

I’ve realized that I’m not so great at the camera, yet really strong in video editing. Hopefully I can improve on the first part so my finished product will look absolutely seamless. After all, you can only do so much in the editing process to hide your mistakes…

For anyone who’s interested, here’s my video.  It’s not perfect, but I am quite proud of what I was able to do in a short amount of time. I hope to do more things like this in the future.
